The transaction will see DNA – Finland’s third-largest telecoms provider – acquire TDC’s data, mobile, fixed voice and hosting services, as well as its associated customers.
The move is expected to strengthen DNA’s position in the Finnish telecoms market.
"Our main focus has been to ensure the best possible service for our pan-Nordic business customers and international wholesale customers, which is exactly what this agreement does. At the same time, our local Finnish customers will remain in safe hands," said Asger Hattel, senior EVP of TDC Nordic & Wholesale.
The deal is subject to approval from Finnish competition authorities, which is expected in the second quarter of this year.
The two companies have also announced an agreement which will see TDC continue delivering enterprise and international wholesale services in Finland.
“With our co-operation, TDC’s customers in Finland will be able to make use of TDC’s high-quality international connections also in the future. At the same time, the arrangement will broaden our service offering for both DNA and TDC customers,” said Jukka Leinonen, CEO of DNA.
In early April this year, DNA announced that it had selected Ericsson as its sole supplier for 4G roll-out in the country.
