Nokia deployed its single RAN advanced solution for the roll-out and Algérie Télécom subscribers are now expected to benefit from improved coverage and high-speed services.
Azouaou Mehmel, president and CEO at Algérie Télécom Group, said that the deployment followed a notable increase in subscribers across Algeria, as well as a surge in demand for high-speed broadband services.
“We wanted to fulfil these demands by building an LTE network with the latest technology available on the market,” Mehmel said. “With our longstanding partner, Nokia, we carried out our first successful LTE trial, and the company became our first choice for building a superior LTE network.”
Nokia’s single RAN is based on its Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station, and the vendor also deployed its NetAct cloud solution for efficient network management.

In May this year, Algérie Télécom signed an agreement with Ericsson for a VoLTE-enabled network in the country.
