Taiwan Mobile selects Ericsson charging solution

Taiwan Mobile has today announced a partnership with Ericsson for the delivery of the Swedish vendor’s policy and charging solution.

The agreement will see Ericsson implement its solution for Taiwan Mobile’s post-paid LTE subscribers, in a bid to make the company a more competitive player in the Taiwan market.

“As data traffic increases in Taiwan, we want to offer our customers greater flexibility, freedom and control over their data usage, and the implementation of this solution will help achieve that goal,” said CH Jih, CTO of Taiwan Mobile.

Ericsson’s charging solution is designed to enable the operator to offer its subscribers flexible control of their costs, while the high-capacity policy controller is expected to revenues by offering personalised services and optimising the use of network resources.

“As the sole provider, Ericsson will deliver these turnkey solutions to Taiwan Mobile, whose subscribers will then be able to control their personal usage in real time, purchasing additional services based on their unique needs,” said Jan Signell, head of Ericsson’s north east Asia region.

Ericsson has seemingly been placing a heavy focus on Taiwan, and last month signed an agreement with national operator Far EasTone for the delivery of LTE services.
