The Equinix Performance Hub serves as an extension to the private enterprise network in an Equinix International Business Exchange (IBX), and is designed to improve application performance and deliver a consistent global quality of experience to end users.
David Wilkinson, senior director and Asia-Pacific lead of global enterprise and financial services at Equinix, said that customer demand for the solution in Asia-Pacific has been increasing.
“We are consistently hearing from Asia-Pacific enterprises that they are struggling to deal with the strain on application and network performance and how to provide a consistent quality of experience to their distributed workforce,” Wilkinson said.
“We’re thrilled to officially launch the Equinix Performance Hub in Asia-Pacific, which combines the strength of the networks and the cloud to address these issues,” he added.
According to Cisco, global cloud traffic is expected to grow by 5.3 zettabytes per year up to 2017 and in Asia Pacific specifically, this is forecast to grow at a CAGR of 43% over the same period.
Equinix developed the performance hub to address the needs of enterprises struggling to maintain a high level of network performance and quality, as well as prepare them for future demands.
In May this year, Equinix launched its Cloud Exchange, and later the same month, Level 3 integrated the exchange its own cloud ecosystem.
