Saudi Arabia-based Zain KSA and Finnish equipment vendor Nokia have successfully demonstrated the vendor’s Liquid Application solution on the operator’s live network. The companies reported that the trial demonstrated an improved throughput and more efficient transmission between the base station and core network. [read more]

Telekom Austria-owned Vipnet has been announced as the first operator in the group to complete a successful network functions virtualisation (NFV) trial. During the trial, the Croatian operator demonstrated HD video streaming by combining LTE technology with NFV. [read more]

CityFibre has today announced plans to turn the city of Coventry in the UK into a Gigabit City. CityFibre has acquired the Coventry CORE network, comprising 140km of metro fibre, from the Coventry City Council, which it intends to extend and upgrade in the coming months. [read more]

Reliance Jio Infocomm has signed a tower sharing agreement with Ascend Telecom Infrastructure for the roll-out of an LTE network in India. The deal is part of Reliance Jio's wider strategy to strike partnerships with key tower infrastructure companies in an effort to build a 4G network nationwide. [read more]

Vodafone has partnered with Canada’s Rogers Communications for a 4G roaming agreement and further marketing opportunities. The non-equity deal is designed to allow Vodafone Canada and Rogers to collaborate to improve and promote each other's offerings in the country, however the details of the partnership have not yet been released. Zayo Group has struck a deal to provide fibre connectivity to Virtustream’s data centres across London. The move will connect the cloud software and services provider to Zayo's dark fibre network, which spans 252 route miles across London. [read more]

SingTel has partnered with Ericsson to launch a 4G mobile broadband service with downlink speeds of up to 300Mbps. The launch is said to be Singapore's first 300Mbps LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) service. [read more]



Huawei has successfully completed 10Gbps Wifi lab trials at its campus in Shenzen, China. The Chinese vendor claims the 10Gbps speed is an industry first and the service will be used to deliver Wifi services up to 10 times faster than existing commercial networks. [read more]

NTT Com has launched what it claims to be the industry’s first cloud-based network services that can be instantly activated online. The services will leverage SDN and NFV platforms on a global scale, and are designed to accelerate service delivery and reduce costs of enterprise networking. Offered via a pay-per-use model, the services are also said to eliminate traditional long-term contract commitments. [read more]
