Radio frequency filters are used in every base station to ensure that spectrum can be shared within the same area and that the same antenna can serve to send and receive signals.
The acquisition will boost the vendor’s radio capabilities and will complement Nokia’s plans to offer an improved mobile broadband experience to its telecoms customers.
Mesaplexx’s expertise will allow Nokia to improve its radio systems by making them smaller, lighter and more efficient, while also helping to reduce overall cost and power consumption and keep radio signal loss to a minimum.
“The Nokia Flexi family of radio access base stations offers cutting-edge solutions that balance energy efficiency, power output and form factor. Adding the very-advanced Mesaplexx technology can enhance them further, potentially reducing small cells form factor by 30% or more,” Nokia said in a statement.
The announcement follows the news that Saudi Arabia-based Zain KSA has successfully demonstrated Nokia’s Liquid Application solution on the operator’s live network.
