The Italian operator will utilise its newly established IP PoP in Accra, Ghana, to deliver cost-effective, high-quality and secure global connectivity solutions to operators, ISPs and service providers connected to the city via major international cable systems.
“Through the strategic relationship with a relevant player like Dolphin Telecom we are able to establish the first Tier-1 IP gateway in West Africa and bring the internet thousands of miles closer to customers in the region with impressive improvement in terms of quality of experience and latency,” said Elisabetta Ripa, CEO at TI Sparkle.
The IP PoP will enable customers to access content from Europe and many other markets on TI Sparkle’s global IP transit backbone, as well as exchange intra-regional traffic locally.
“Our partnership with TI Sparkle is proof of our commitment in bridging the internet divide in West Africa and a response to the increasing local demand for high-quality and protected IP connectivity solutions following the recent development of the IT segment in the region,” said Abdel Mageid Elzain, managing director at Dolphin Telecom.
In March this year, TI Sparkle was announced as one of the initial investors in the Sea-Me-We 5 cable, intended to connect Europe and Singapore across 17 countries.
