In partnership with Affirmed Networks, the mobile operator demonstrated HD video streaming by combining LTE technology and NFV.
The demonstration is said to have proved that it is possible to stream via an NFV-enhanced packet core through an LTE network, which in the future could allow consumers to record and directly stream their smartphone content and multimedia to cloud-based memory storage.
“We are very proud that the Telekom Austria Group has once again demonstrated our strength and the achievements previously gained in relation to the NFV strategy. It is great to be able to show how we are continuing to demonstrate our commitment towards innovation across all of the Group’s subsidiaries”, said Günther Ottendorfer, CTO of Telekom Austria Group.
In June, Telekom Austria-owned Vipnet also completed a NFV trial that demonstrated HD video streaming by combining LTE technology with NFV.
