TSIC is deploying Ciena’s 5400 platform across its infrastructure in Europe, and will create a flexible and OTN-based network to support service providers with bandwidth and network-on-demand transport services.
The Nordic carrier is attempting to simplify its infrastructure to converge SDH, Ethernet and OTN into a dynamic infrastructure, enabling the company to rapidly deploy resilient 1G to 100G optical services to customers.
Service providers are actively seeking to meet end user demands for network capacity through upgrades in cloud, mobile broadband and the rise in usage of bandwidth-intensive applications.
“We’re continuously upgrading our extensive network, enabling mission-critical solutions for operators and content providers,” said Mattias Fridstrom, VP, head of technology at TSIC.
“Developing an even more scalable and flexible network is not only about meeting the bandwidth demands of today but also ensures the bandwidth demands of tomorrow,” he added.
