C4L will bring its own fibre into the facility to expand its private fibre-optic coreTX network in the city, as well as providing access to 100 data centres across the UK and more than 300 worldwide.
Opened in 2013, Volta’s GSS data centre is carrier neutral and Matt Hawkins, founder and chairman at C4L, said that Volta’s connectivity and unrivalled 33KV power supply were key factors in the decision to expand the coreTX network into the facility.
“Customers located in Volta will have additional direct access to internet exchanges such as LINX and LONAP, as well as multiple Tier-1 internet providers including NTT and GTT,” Hawkins said.
“Furthermore, the central London location will enable locally based business in the financial services sector, SME’s and technology entrepreneurs around Tech City to take advantage of our high-capacity coreTX network,” he added.
The GSS facility works with a number of leading carriers worldwide, and the presence of C4L’s network is expected to boost the choice of connectivity and cross-connects for these customers when they are expanding their domestic and international footprints.
“Our customers are now able to benefit from C4L’s extensive fibre-optic network connectivity across both UK and other data centres globally,” said Matthew Dent, CEO at Volta. “Our partnership benefits both our and C4L customer bases by offering increased choice of connectivity to physical and cloud-based infrastructures required for doing business in central London.”
In April this year, managed services provider 6DG also established a PoP in Volta’s London unit.
