The Malaysia-based company launched the network in Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar and Odisha, after successfully testing speeds of up to 54Mbps during 4G trials.
The company will offer the services through built in Wifi routers and antenna systems, mainly targeting enterprise customers and home customers in commercial business districts and residential areas.
Aircel’s 4G launch follows market leader Bharti Airtel, which now offers mobile services across 2G, 3G and 4G LTE.
“Our existing technological leadership position further lends to providing a promising and reliable 4G LTE service to our customers,” said Anupam Vasudev, chief marketing officer at Aircel. “The wireless broadband services offered will help customers transform their workplaces and homes into 'smarter' entities.”
Vasudev added that the company will focus on building a reliable MPLS core network, and Aircel presently holds 20MHz spectrum for LTE in the 2300MHz band across eight key areas, with the rollout expected to extend over the coming year.
India’s telecoms market is undergoing a revival, and the country’s government is forecasting to raise approximately $7.59 billion from the sector in this fiscal year.
