The move comes ahead of the January 2015 launch of the 4G networks, following the closure of analogue television networks in the nation last year and the redistribution of the spectrum earlier this year.
Telstra and Optus, along with TPG, paid a total of almost A$2 billion ($1.88 billion) for the spectrum at an auction, and have been trialling 700MHz 4G in recent months.
After receiving a test licence from the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) last week, Telstra is reported to have implemented 700MHz 4G at six sites, including Perth, Freemantle, Mount Isa, Mildura, Griffith and Esperance.
Meanwhile, Optus has announced that it will commence 700MHz 4G trials in the commercial business districts of Darwin and Perth.
