Tiwana will replace Naeem Zamindar, who has been in the role during an instrumental three-and-a-half-year period for the company.
During Zamindar’s tenure, Wateen Telecom was entirely reconstructed and reorganised, and in a statement the company said that Pakistan’s Wateen is now viewed as a stable organisation upon which to build success.
Tiwana brings more than 19 years of experience to the role, including positions at Nokia Siemens Network, Motorola and, most recently, as CTO at Fanoos Telecom Iraq.
“[Tiwana] brings a wealth of experience in broadband industry management, and the appointment of Rizwan reflects the commitment of the company in moving towards achieving its strategy of becoming the leading technology services provider, through leveraging its strong core business of connectivity in years to come,” the board said.
