The Post Office announced its MVNO in partnership with UK operator EE earlier this month, and Transatel has today been revealed as official enabler of the service, supporting the Post Office online, over the phone and via its 11,500 branches as it delivers mobile services from autumn this year.
The Post Office/EE MVNO will leverage Transatel’s mobile virtual network aggregator (MVNA) technical platform, and is the service provider’s 27th MVNO partner in the UK.
“The Post Office is the number-one mails retailer in the UK and their customers put a huge amount of trust in them for their other services, so I am really honoured that they have trusted Transatel and our award-winning MVNA platform to launch their mobile service in the UK,” said Bertrand Salomon, deputy CEO at Transatel.
Transatel enabled the launch of China Telecom’s MVNO in the UK in May 2012, and in the last 12 months has launched Phones4U’s MVNO using its MVNE platform, as well as MVNOs Pop Mobile and Airwave Smart Mobile using its MVNA platform.
Transatel said in a statement that it recognises the need for MVNOs to enter the market quickly and competitively, and it hopes its one-stop-shop solution will help the Post Office to do just that.
“Launching our own mobile service, with the support of Transatel, is a significant milestone in the Post Office's journey of change and a testament to our continuing efforts to offer more essential services for our customers,” said Martin George, CCO at Post Office. “We are very excited about our ambitious plans in the mobile market and are confident we have chosen the right partners to help us deliver this.”
