The move follows a collaboration with Chinese telecoms equipment maker Huawei, which replaced Manx Telecom’s existing GSM/HSPA networks with 4G LTE technology and implemented its SingleRAN LTE solution.
The service offers Manx Telecom customers an enhanced mobile broadband experience, allowing them access to the next-generation mobile technology for the first time. Situated between Great Britain and Ireland, the Isle of Man has a total land area of 572 sq km and is home to a population of less than 90,000.
“This is another first for Manx Telecom and the Isle of Man and we’re delighted to be bringing this fantastic new technology to our customers,” said Mike Dee, CEO at Manx Telecom.
In January, Manx Telecom announced plans to float on the AIM exchange in order to seek private equity investment.
