It is also said to boast firewalls capable of processing more than 25,000 terabytes of data – equivalent to roughly 500,000 feature-length Blu-Ray DVDs.
Cisco’s network infrastructure has been used throughout the event so far to connect devices, data, voice and video services across all 13 venues. It has revealed that 240km of fibre were installed in preparation for the games, as well as 441 switches, 378 wireless access points, 40 routers and 2,300 IP phones.
