Cicchetti will replace Stefano de Angelis, who was appointed by Telecom Italia, as part of a management restructure, according to local reports.
Telecom Italia is selling its stake in Telecom Argentina, and recently extended the deadline of the sale to September.
The sale to US investment fund Fintech has still not received final approval from industry regulator SeCom.
The deal was agreed in November 2013, and Telecom Italia will sell the stake for approximately $960 million.
Cicchetti formerly served as Telecom Italia’s director for special projects.
