The facility will be located in the seaport of Eemshaven in the Groningen province, which is said to offer connectivity to the US and the rest of Europe.
According to local reports, the new data centre will host tens of thousands of servers and bring hundreds of new jobs to the province.
Google already has one data centre near Eemshaven as well as facilities in Belgium, Finland and Ireland.
