The company is divesting parts of its network into an independent real estate investment trust (REIT), where Thomas will take on the position of CEO when the transaction closes in Q1 2015.
Gunderman is the existing SVP and treasurer of Windstream – and previous VP of financial planning – and Jeff Gardner, president and CEO at the company, said that he values Gunderman’s leadership and counsel.
“We have a deep and very talented finance organisation,” Gardner said. “I appreciate Bob’s willingness to assume these duties in addition to his treasurer role so that Tony can devote his full attention to the formation of the REIT.”
Last month Windstream appointed two board members, William LaPerch and Michael Stoltz, and the company is now conducting a national search to fill the CFO position on a permanent basis.
