The deal will see the two companies interconnect these networks via a network-to-network interface (NNI), which will enable both Tata and PCCW to deliver enhanced network data and HDVC services to their global enterprise customers.
The agreement marks a move towards an open ecosystem between players across Asia, and Rangu Salgame, CEO of growth ventures and service providers group at Tata, has noticed a definitive shift in this direction.
“Providers are now aligning and interconnecting their networks so traffic can travel between their networks and at the highest possible quality. For service providers and end users, this means better service, better technology and unprecedented reach,” Salgame said.
“This partnership creates new access routes for enterprise customers making video a daily business tool, boosting the pace of business across the region.”
The interconnection will also provide customers of both companies access to a range of applications – including voice, data and video – via a high-speed, high-quality network, regardless of their location, enabling them to extend their global footprints.
“With our new agreement, we have the ability to unlock additional opportunity for business both in the region and the world, by making video calling and conferencing a central part of existing communications portfolios and by leveraging the extensive coverage capability and quality of service capabilities of IPX,” said Marc Halbfinger, CEO at PCCW Global.
