Conducted on October 21 2014, StarHub implemented Nokia’s Liquid Applications solution at its 4G mobile base stations at the Singapore Sport Hub, to deliver four live video feeds of the Rising Stars Finals tennis broadcast, to spectators on mobile devices.
Spectators were able to zoom in and out on the action and select a number of camera angles at any time during the live stream.
“We are excited over the potential in moving digital content to the farthest edge of our mobile network – the base stations,” said Mock Pak Lum, chief technology officer at StarHub.
“This localised mobile content delivery significantly reduces lags and boosts surfing quality, offering our subscribers the best mobile broadband experience.”
Nokia’s Liquid Applications is an industry first solution, designed to provide high quality services to mobile broadband customer via mobile base stations.
It is also expected to allow mobile operators to deliver other offerings such as location-based services and augmented reality.
