The IP network will converge True’s mobile, cable and internet backhaul over a common network, as well as provide broadband speeds of up to 100G across the operator’s businesses as it evolves from 3G to 4G.
“Today our business is all about quality and cost-efficiency,” said Vichaow Rakphongphairoj, managing director and group COO at True Corporation.
“Alcatel-Lucent’s commitment on both key business criteria is strong and is the foundation of our partnership. True looks forward to a long and profitable collaboration with Alcatel-Lucent.”
The deal includes more than 15 million mobile subscribers and one million broadband households, and initially covers Bangkok which accounts for 65% of Thailand’s telecoms traffic.
Alcatel-Lucent’s simplified architecture is designed to provide scalability and a single management system for True, as well as one with reduced power and space requirements.
“Enabling True Corporation with network technology gives real meaning to our Bangkok-based regional IP routing and transport delivery team,” said Sebastien Laurent, president and managing director of Alcatel-Lucent Thailand.
“We are increasing the reliability of their network performance across the board and the access speeds their customers will enjoy on their phones and their computers will provide for an extremely positive converged experience.”
