Wataniya Palestine appoints CEO

Palestine’s number two operator, Wataniya Palestine, has appointed Durgham Maraee as chief executive at the firm; its parent company Ooredoo told reporters today.

Maraee was formerly chief investment officer at the Palestine Investment Fund, and his appointment follows the resignation of previous Wataniya Palestine CEO, Fayez Husseini.

Maraee holds a doctorate degree in law from Harvard University and Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saud al-Thani, chairman at Ooredoo, said: “Maraee has extensive experience in business management, private equity and investment.”

Ooredoo owns 44.6% of Wataniya Palestine, which posted a loss of $10.68 million in the nine months to September 30.
