The acquisition is expected to strengthen the operator’s position in the Dutch broadband market, where it competes with UPC and Ziggo.
Earlier this month, the Dutch telco received approval from the Netherland’s Autoriteit Consument & Markt (ACM) regulatory body to acquire a further 9% of FTTH operator Reggefiber, bringing its total to 60%.
"We are pleased with the full ownership of Reggefiber and want to learn and make use of the large amount of knowledge and expertise within Reggefiber,” said Joost Farwerck, member of the board at KPN.
Headquartered in Rijssen, the Netherlands, Reggefiber specialises in the installation of fibre-optic connections.
