GCX will provide the 100 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity on its trans-Atlantic FA-1 North and South cables, in order to help GTT provide high-speed, low-latency connectivity services to its multinational clients.
GTT operates a global Tier 1 IP network and the addition of 100 Gigabit waves will significantly increase its backbone capacity.
“We are seeing an increasing demand for high-bandwidth connectivity, driven by new technology and cloud-based applications, and we must always ensure that our network leads the industry in terms of technology and cost efficiency,” said Wilfred Kwan, COO at GCX.
“Our continued investments in trans-Atlantic FA-1 network provide large enterprises, carriers and wholesale customers such as GTT, with world-class infrastructure, while delivering additional capacity along the critical trans-Atlantic corridor today and in the future.”
In June last year, GCX deployed a four-fibre-pair direct link between India and Singapore, with 100G capabilities.
