With the A2P SMS market demonstrating significant growth worldwide, Anam has appointed Van Zyl to push its development and growth strategy across the African market, where A2P is forecast to be worth $60 billion by 2018, according to Juniper Research.
Van Zyl has 19 years of experience in the telecoms sector, and leaves his role as managing executive at South African mobile player Cell C for the position.
“Francois’ wealth of experience in working with network operators in Africa is invaluable as we continue to drive our growth and capitalise on the opportunities available in the region,” said Louise O’Sullivan CEO at Anam Technologies.
“The A2P SMS and enterprise messaging space shows no signs of slowing down and as mobile operators in Africa look for assistance in managing and monetising this messaging domain, Anam will be there to provide the guidance to ensure they succeed.”
Van Zyl has 10 years of experience managing companies in sub-Saharan Africa, and believes that operators in the region are now in a strong position to leverage A2P SMS.
“The Anam technology, whether it is the revenue assurance or anti-spam service, is robust and already proven across global networks meaning that African operators can be assured they are getting the best of breed technology,” Van Zyl said.
“I’m looking forward to working closely with the Anam team and our partners in the region to make 2015 a success for Anam and the African telecoms industry as a whole,” he added.
