Alcatel-Lucent appoints Bhaskar Gorti as president of IP Platforms

Alcatel-Lucent has appointed former Oracle executive Bhaskar Gorti as president of its IP platforms business.

Tasked with driving the development of cloud and software applications, Gorti will oversee business units developing technologies for cloud-based networking and virtualisation. This includes network functions virtualisation (NFV), operations support systems (OSS), network performance and the cybersecurity monitoring and prevention software platforms.

Gorti will report directly to CEO Michel Combes and will join the Alcatel-Lucent executive committee.

“I am very pleased to welcome Bhaskar, a globally recognised software executive, to lead our IP platforms business, drive the software transformation of Alcatel-Lucent and to join my management team at an exciting point as Alcatel-Lucent redefines itself,” said Combes.

“He brings to us tremendous global experience in commercial and technology fields that have a direct relevance on our future, as we increase the proportion of software and virtualised products in our portfolio,” Combes added.

Gorti served as SVP and GM of Oracle Communications global business unit.
