What do you hope to achieve from attending this year’s Metro Connect?
Metro Connect is the perfect forum for FirstLight’s executive team to meet with partners, customers and key players in the communications industry. The format of the show provides opportunities to network with colleagues and the presentations keep us up to date on the latest trends and developments in the industry.
What are your major priorities in the metro market in 2015?
FirstLight is committed to continuing to serve the needs of business and carrier customers looking for high-quality, scalable, fibre-based communications services in upstate New York and northern New England. In order to do so, we will continue to expand our geographic reach, we will add relevant services and enhance our capabilities. We expect that our growth will occur both organically from existing and new customers as well as strategically – as it has with the acquisitions of TelJet’s assets in 2013 and G4 Communications’ assets in 2014.
What trends do you expect to see in the metro market in 2015?
Over the past few years, there has been a growing demand for fibre-based connectivity in rural markets. As our world becomes more digital, everyone needs access to high-speed connectivity and metro providers, like FirstLight provide choice to business customers seeking high-quality services backed by outstanding, locally based support.
Moving apps to the cloud is another big trend that we see in the marketplace. In order to make the cloud work, customers need access to data centres with the level of power and cooling required to reliably house their equipment, business applications and data. They also need access fibre-based connectivity for the wide area network to connect their locations to the cloud – both of which FirstLight can provide.
