The Canadian operator claims to be the first in the country to offer the service which utilises Rogers’ 4G network to deliver a high quality calling experience.
“Now customers making voice and video calls will benefit from clear sound quality and the same lightning fast LTE speeds for calls that Rogers delivers to surf the web or stream from your mobile device,” said Raj Doshi, EVP at Rogers Communications.
“VoLTE will help our customers to enjoy rich, multimedia voice services and we are proud to be the first Canadian carrier to offer it.”
VoLTE also lets customer simultaneously place a call and browse the internet, and Rogers’ expects the technology to enable calls to connect faster.
Late last year, Rogers reached a deal with rival BCE Bell Canada for a 50% stake in Canadian mobile phone retailer Glentel.
