IIX acquires IX Reach

Software-defined interconnection company IIX has acquired global network solutions provider IX Reach.

The combination of the two firms is expected to create a global interconnection footprint of over 150 PoPs across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Stephen Wilcox, CEO and founder of IX Reach, has been appointed president of EMEA and chief of global networks at IIX. Wilcox holds 17 years’ experience in the technology sector, and has also held senior positions at Google, Renesys and U-NET.

"IX Reach has become an industry leader in global interconnection solutions since being founded in 2007,” said Al Burgio, founder and CEO at IIX.

“This acquisition expands our leadership team, accelerates our global expansion and brings the IIX software-defined interconnection platform to more markets worldwide.”

IIX’s software-defined interconnection platform enables secure, direct network connections between content providers, cloud application providers and other enterprises.

“IX Reach, together with IIX and its software platform, enables the combined organisation to emerge with global operations and unite leading expertise in both software and network engineering,” Wilcox added.

“I am excited to join the IIX leadership team and help drive its rapid expansion across the globe.”

Financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.

In October last year, IIX acquired UK-based software and interconnection company Allegro Networks
