It is said to enable JPIX to scale bandwidth in 100Gbps increments without changing hardware. It also claims to provide up to one Tbps of input and output capacity in just two rack units.

JPIX was established in 1997 and offers an exchange point for service and content providers in Japan and is said to play an important role in powering the Japanese internet backbone.
