In April, traffic was said to hit a record peak rate of 3.7Tbps, while average internet traffic volume per day over AMS-IX increased by almost 15% to 23 petabytes in the first half of 2015, compared to 25% during 2014.
The internet exchange also announced that it had connected 60 new organisations to its platform in the first half of 2015.
“With over 700 connected parties, we are the largest Internet exchange in the world and approximately 80% of our customers and members originate outside of the Netherlands,” said Job Witteman, CEO of AMS-IX. “One of the driving forces behind our growth is our model: non-profit, neutral and independent. This appeals to many parties all over the world.”
