Combes’ departure will be effective September 1. His decision to resign follows Nokia’s €15.6 billion acquisition of Alcatel-Lucent.
Combes said then that he would not leave Alcatel-Lucent before ensuring that the sale to Nokia was safely on track.
The company’s leadership team will be responsible for completing Alcatel-Lucent’s 2015 targets, closing the proposed transaction with Nokia and preparing for the integration of the companies.
“Alcatel-Lucent has already delivered on major steps of The Shift Plan, focusing itself around growth in next-generation and reviving the confidence of its stakeholders. Michel can be credited with renewing a company which is now ready to reap the fruits of these efforts, and commence a new chapter in its history,” said Philippe Camus.
