The two companies have collaborated for almost a decade and the additional PoPs add coverage of the Asia-Pacific region for NexGen customers.
NexGen has also leveraged Platform Equinix which will enable the company to meet the needs of its global enterprise customers by delivering an ultra-low latency route between Europe and Asia.
“This expansion will improve services for our customers around the world, providing uninterrupted, high-speed access to leading financial centres,” said Jeffrey Barth, VP of sales at NexGen Networks.
“Furthermore, it provides interconnection with our recently acquired capacity on the TEA cable system, which gives us an incredibly efficient and reliable path from Europe into Asia.”
Equinix’s FR2 data centre is one of the world’s most carrier-dense thanks to a partnership with DE-CIX, and its TY3 data centre in Tokyo offers connections over the RJCN/TEA and PC1 routes, as well as 10Gb wavelength and traditional Ethernet services.
Equinix launched its fifth Tokyo data centre in November last year.
“Equinix’s unmatched data centre footprint means businesses can rapidly deploy data centre operations worldwide and have the flexibility to scale up or down to suit business needs,” said Jim Poole, VP of global service providers at Equinix.
“NexGen Networks is a perfect example of a customer that aggressively grew its business on Platform Equinix and we are looking forward to continuing on this exciting journey.”
