His announcement follows the operator’s results in Q3 which revealed that the number of customers in its home market using fibre-optic broadband lines increased by 425,000 in both retail and wholesale markets.
According to Deutsche Telekom, the continuous growth in fibre optic lines is the result of a systemic network build-out. At the end of Q3, the number of fibre-optic lines stood at 3.84 million, an increase of 75% in a year.
"We are resolutely forging ahead with our strategy," said Tim Höttges, CEO of Deutsche Telekom. "High investments in broadband roll-out and connectivity remain the basis for growth."
The number of retail broadband customers rose by 78,000 in Q3 to 12.6 million and its fibre customers saw an increase of 248,000 to 2.61 million.
Deutsche Telekom said revenue from its broadband business is gaining momentum, increasing by 0.9% in Q3.
The operator reported an increase in total revenue of 0.1% year-on-year to €5.6 billion in Q3. Its net profit increased by 59.9% to €809 million, compared with the same period the year before.
Adjusted EBITDA increased by 12.9% to €5.2 billion. At the same time, net revenue increased by 9.3% to €17.1 billion.
