The PoP has been launched in collaboration with Georgian ISP Silknet, as well as Turkcell Superonline, and is designed to address the growing demands for Tier-1 transit services in the Caucasus and Caspian regions.
It is also expected to serve the Middle East and central Asia via Silknet and Turkcell Superonline’s fibre networks connecting the Tbilisi PoP to TI Sparkle’s Seabone.
The PoP will be interconnected to Seabone through Istanbul and Frankfurt via diversified terrestrial routes, and the companies hope it will transform the city into a regional telecoms hub by ensuring full redundancy.
Major ISPs, fixed and mobile operators, content and CDN players are all expected to benefit from the PoP, which is expected to increase TI Sparkle’s backbone capillarity in Eastern Europe, and improve the performance of its Seabone infrastructure.
Earlier this year, TI Sparkle launched a PoP at Telecity’s facility in Stockholm, Sweden.
