Myanmar sets deadline for 4th licence

The government of Myanmar has given telecoms operators just one week to show interest in taking part in the country’s fourth mobile licence.

The tender committee says it wants to receive expressions of interest in a joint venture company by close of business on December 18 2015.

The tender committee has set up a three-stage process, starting by selection the potential domestic partner. The committee will then shortlist foreign telecoms partners before finalising the selection of one.

It plans to award a licence in the first half of 2016.
