Both will report to AT&T’s CEO Randall Stephenson. Glenn Lurie, who was promoted of AT&T’s consumer mobility unit, will report to Stankey.
"Increasingly, consumers want all three services to work together seamlessly so they can access their favourite content on any device, anywhere, anytime," said the company.
The reshuffle comes after AT&T’s increasing focus on mobile video, following its acquisition of DirecTV in July 2015. The company is expected to launch several mobile video offerings this year.
Some of the two executives’ responsibilities will be switched around. Stankey will take on the consumer parts while De La Vega will manage the business units, its Mexico mobile unit and DirecTV’s operations in Latin America. De La Vega will move from its mobile business in Atlanta to its Dallas headquarters.
