NTT launches low latency service connecting Japan and Singapore

NTT Communications has launched a low latency service connecting the Japan Exchange Group (JPX) and Singapore Exchange (SGX).

The service claims to connect JPX’s Access Point 3-equipped data centre (AP3) with SGX’s data centre in just 63.5 milliseconds, and will support high frequency trading.

The round-trip latency is measured using a 1Gbps test cable and 1000Base-LX/64-bite packet environment.

NTT had previously connected the two exchanges through its Asia Submarine Cable Express (ASE), which is said to offer the shortest cable route between Japan and Singapore. By adding a PoP at the AP3 centre, the operator was able to reduce latency from 63.7 milliseconds to 63.5 milliseconds.
