The list – comprising 69 complete applications and 35 incomplete applications – includes Verizon, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Comcast (under the name CC Wireless Investment), AT&T and C Spire Wireless. Sprint was not on the list. The operator had earlier said it does not intend to bid in the auction.
Puerto Rico Telephone Company – owned by America Movil – and Sinclair Broadcast Group, the largest owner of TV stations in the US, are also among the applicants.
The US spectrum auction, expected to bring tens of billions, is set to begin March 29 in two phases. The country's TV stations will first sell their licences. The government will then sell licences to the higher bidders.
In January 2015, the country’s spectrum auction raised a record $45 billion from 70 participants.
