The operator’s nominations committee will meet today to discuss potential candidates, according to a source of Reuters.
"The idea is to move quite quickly, also to smooth the transition; if there is no decision before Easter, then shortly after," a separate source told the news agency.
Flavio Cattaneo, CEO of Italian railway company NTV and a Telecom Italia board member, is seen as a top candidate to replace Patuano who resigned this week. Chairman Giuseppe Recchi is presently serving as interim CEO.
Patuano, who has been at the helm of Telecom Italia for two and a half years, is reportedly set to receive an estimated €6 million payout upon his departure.
