Piron will report directly to Marc Rouanne, CIO and COO, after Durmont decided to “pursue endeavours outside of the company”, a Nokia statement read. Piron is tasked with growing the submarine business and further expand its market position.
Prior to joining Nokia, he was a managing director and, more recently, president of GEA Batignolles Technologies Thermiques. He started his career in September 1994 at Total Chimie.
“ASN has the largest installed base of undersea cable systems in the industry,” according to the statement.
The news comes after ASN announced it has successfully demonstrated tests with Cinia and recorded 144Tbit/s capacity on the C-Lion1 submarine cable system.
