"With Juniper's open networking commitment and heritage, we are excited to join and contribute to TIP, said Masum Mir, vice president of product management at Juniper Networks.
“We believe this initiative and our contribution will help move the industry forward with an open multi-layer packet and transport network, foster innovation and bring tremendous value to the global networking community. We're excited to contribute to Facebook's vision for open line systems and lead the industry toward a more open and agile approach to networking."
The Telecom Infra Project aims to solve many of the issues associated with traditional telecommunications infrastructures by providing an ecosystem of interoperable components enabling completely new and agile network architectures. Leveraging its position as a leading proponent of open source and open architectures, Juniper Networks will be contributing its engineering and development expertise to TIP's Open Optical Packet Transport project group.
