Paulin, who joined in 2003, will take over from Francisco Gil Diaz, who is stepping down from the role at the end of June to become a non-executive director, Telefónica said in a statement.
He was most recently global managing director for machine-to-machine (M2M). He has also held a number of senior roles including vice president of operations at Telefônica Brasil and director of marketing at Telefónica Spain.
Diaz, a former Mexican finance minister, is credited with aiding the company’s growth, which today has more than 26 million customers nationwide.
