Combes who will be CEO effective immediately takes over Dexter Goei who was appointed CEO of Altice’s US business and president of Altice.
In addition, the company announced that founder and controlling shareholder Patrick Drahi would step down as president to lead a new advisory council focussed on the strategic, operational and technological agenda for the company.
“I am extremely excited about our US business which is accounting for approximately 40% of our group and offers huge development opportunities,” said Drahi. “Dexter exemplifies the entrepreneurial and commercial spirit of Altice and will provide the same vital leadership to our US business he displayed when building the Altice Group in the last eight years with me. Since joining us last year, Michel has been instrumental in structuring and harmonising our operations and strengthening our management teams across the board.”
The reorganisation follows Altice’s completion of its $17.7 billion acquisition of Cablevision in June 2016. The company noted that the latest group management structure is reflective of the Altice’s global presence centered around Europe and the US – and it aims to ensure “best-in-class management” in both regions.
Combes was previously CEO at former Alcatel-Lucent and chairman of the board at Numericable-SFR. He joined Altice just last September.
