Huawei will provide managed services, including network operations, to Vodafone in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and the Chennai and Odisha districts. It replaces Nokia which previously had the contract for this work.

The new contract follows a recent contract Huawei won from Bharti Airtel for upgrading the wireline network with vectoring, GPON and G.Fast technologies to deliver 100Mbps broadband services in almost ninety Indian cities.

Third-party employees working with the existing vendor will now move to Huawei, along with some of Vodafone and Huawei’s full-time employees. It is estimated that a total of over 1,000 employees will be working on the new managed services contract.
