The new 4G service has initially rolled out in Tortola and Virgin Gorda using the 700MHz spectrum band won by Digicel in a spectrum auction last year.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) awarded Digicel with the spectrum in August, having suspended the tender twice. The auction saw Digicel, CCT and Flow take spectrum in the 700MHz and 1900MHz bands.
Flow, part of Cable and Wireless Communications, launched LTE services in November, according to BVI News.
"We're focused on always delivering the most advanced technologies to our customers, and the activation of the LTE network in BVI is another significant step in this direction," Digicel BVI general manager Kevin Gordon said to BVI News.
It is the latest 4G development for Digicel, which also won LTE licenses to launch 4G services in the French overseas territories and Bermuda in November.
Digicel, which was founded by Irish billionaire Denis O’Brien, also offers 4G services in number of markets, including Vanuatu, Guyana and Jamaica.
