Available in 70 Italian municipalities, TIM claims it provides 67% of homes with fibre and 97% of the population in Italy, on the 4G network.
Due to the faster speeds and reliable fibre connections, fibre to the home (FTTH) will become available with speeds of 1,000Mbps combined with 4.5G making it the first to link fixed and mobile technologies together, opening up a new series of services on offer to its customers.
Accessible to all new customers, this new fibre and mobile offer will provide up to 1,000Mbps download and 100Mbps in upload speeds.
The company also plans a major three-year period investment project amounting to approximately €11 billion, a large proportion of which is dedicated to network innovation.
According to TIM it has already provided fibre coverage to over 16 million homes in approximately 1,900 municipalities, and in 1,300 of them the speed has already been doubled to 200Mbps, and 70Mbps with FTTH. As for its mobile network the launch of the 4.5G commercial service will offer speeds of up to 500Mbps in download, in 11 Italian cities. From July it will also offer speeds of up to 700Mbps in download in the cities of Turin, Milan, Naples, Rome and Palermo, Taormina and Giardini-Naxos.
