The low powered network, which supports IoT solutions ranging from smart metering to agriculture, is available on request across the operator’s entire LTE operation.
Turkcell worked with Huawei and Ericsson to deploy the network, and is the latest European mobile provider to launch NB-IoT support, following similar launches from Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone and Tele2.
Gediz Sezgin, Turkcell's Executive Vice President Network Technologies, said: “While our living spaces become more and more “connected” every day, Turkcell’s mobile infrastructure is now ready for a world where billions of devices will connect.”
NB-IoT is viewed as a key technology in the developing IoT market, after it was picked as one of the three standards for low power, wide area networks by the 3GPP last year.
