In addition to expansion of its global network, areas included in this partnership are colocation and subsea cable access services in east Africa. Specifically the DDC will help CMI to establish cable head access, cross-connect and colocation facilities adjacent to Djibouti Telecom’s cable landing station, which is positioned metres away from the Djibouti Telecom international fibre cable landing station.
Speaking on the new collaboration, Anthony Voscarides, CEO of Djibouti Data Center said: “We are very pleased that China Mobile International will be joining the carrier neutral DDC ecosystem. The addition of CMI further establishes the DDC ecosystem as the leading carrier neutral data center hub in east Africa serving global and regional telco’s, MNOs, ISPs, and content providers.”
Combining the DDC’s data centre environment and CMI’s network resources, CMI directly meeting its objective to enrich its global network resources in African international business and meeting the growing demand in the international telecommunications market.
“Serving partners such as CMI in the neutral DDC ecosystem supports our mutual objective of making a significant contribution to Africa’s digital evolution, and will most certainly contribute to the economic development and social well-being of the region,” added Voscarides.
